Cowboy Baked Beans

January 27, 2013

I am back!  The year 2012 was a challenge to our family.  A new recipe that I made during 2012 was Cowboy Baked Beans in the Celebrating Home Bean Pot.

     Cowboy Baked Beans
      Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. sorghum or other molasses
  • 1 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 tbsp. mustard
  • 1 can (approx. 16 ounces) pork 'n beans (I like Bushes)
  • 1 can (approx. 16 ounces) butter beans, drained
  • 1 can (approx. 16 ounces) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (approx. 16 ounces) pinto beans, drained
  • paprika red Bean Pot $45.00
  • 1/2 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled
Preparation:
Cook ground beef until browned, breaking up and stirring as it cooks. Add onion and cook until tender; drain off excess grease. Add remaining ingredients, except bacon. Put in bean pot and bake in oven at 300 degrees for 2 hours. This would make a great recipe to take to a large gathering. Double the recipe.

  3. Why bake in a bean pot?  The bean pot creates moist delicious food because it creates a stone oven and makes its own juice!
  4. It will also keep food warm longer while serving.  It is beautiful as a serving piece.
  5. Microwave, oven proof and dishwasher safe.
  6. You do not need to  preheat your oven.
  7. It can be placed in an oven up to 350 degrees.
  8. Since the Bean Pot is made out of clay it also retains coldness.  So this means you can serve any dish you want to keep cold.
  9. The Bean Pot makes a wonderful ice bucket for casual dinners, simply freeze the bowl for a couple of hours first.
  10. Looking for a wedding, birthday, Christmas or any other special occasion give a Bean Pot.  This gift will be one they will cherish and use for years to come.
